  • Age: 10 - 14 year old girls

Growing up comes with a lot of changes, new pressures and important decisions. The girls EmpowerHER program gives girls ages 10 to 12 a supportive space to build confidence, strengthen their self esteem and develop practical skills they can use at school, at home and in their relationships.

Through weekly interactive activities, discussions and hands on experiences, girls will explore topics that directly affect their everyday lives. The program is designed to help girls better understand themselves, build healthy relationships, communicate with confidence, make informed choices and know how to speak up when something does not feel right.

Building Confidence

Girls will explore what confidence looks like in everyday life and what can strengthen or weaken it. They will learn practical strategies to speak up, try new things, recognize their strengths and feel more comfortable being themselves.

Self Esteem & Identity

Girls will explore what makes them unique, including their interests, values, abilities and personality. Activities will help them develop a stronger sense of self, appreciate their individual strengths and think positively about who they are becoming.

Healthy Friendships & Trust

Girls will learn what healthy friendships should look and feel like, including respect, honesty, trust and support. They will also explore how to recognize unhealthy friendship behaviours, deal with broken trust and build relationships that feel safe and positive.

Peer Pressure & Boundaries

Girls will learn how to recognize peer pressure and understand the importance of making choices that reflect their own values. They will practise setting healthy boundaries, saying no with confidence and respecting the boundaries of others.

Conflict & Communication

Girls will explore different communication styles and learn how to express themselves clearly and respectfully. They will practise speaking up for themselves, managing disagreements and handling conflict in ways that strengthen rather than damage relationships.

Health & Hygiene

Girls will learn practical ways to care for their bodies as they grow. Topics may include personal hygiene, healthy routines and understanding physical changes, with the goal of helping girls feel informed, comfortable and confident about taking care of themselves.

Healthy Eating

Girls will explore how food supports energy, concentration, mood and overall well being. They will learn about balanced food choices, basic nutrition and making healthier everyday decisions. Girls will also participate in hands on activities where they learn how to prepare simple, healthy snacks they can make at home.

Advocacy & Finding Your Voice

Girls will learn how to speak up for themselves, express their opinions and ask for help when they need it. Activities will encourage them to stand up for their values, communicate their needs and understand that their voice matters.

Personal Safety & Awareness

Girls will learn how to recognize situations, behaviours or interactions that may feel unsafe, uncomfortable or inappropriate. Discussions will include trusting their instincts, understanding personal boundaries, recognizing concerning behaviour, protecting personal information, online safety and knowing when to reach out to a trusted adult.

Personal Growth & Goal Setting

Girls will reflect on their strengths, interests and abilities while beginning to think about their future. They will learn how to set realistic goals, make positive choices and understand how their decisions can help shape the person they want to become.

The EmpowerHER program is designed to give girls more than information. It gives them a place to ask questions, connect with other girls, practise important life skills and build the confidence to use their voice.
